In vitro study | CFTRinh-172 inhibited CFTR-mediated iodide transport in a time-and dose-dependent manner, and effectively inhibited CFTR activation mediated by multiple agonists or activators. As a selective CFTR channel inhibitor, CFTRinh-172 was also able to completely block chloride flow in the acinar and duct cells of the lacrimal gland of rabbits. CFTRinh-172 induced production of ROS, mitochondrial damage, and activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway by a CFTR-independent mechanism. |
